<T> TEMPORARY; MAY IMPACT THROUGHPUT

Reason:

All three of these messages are issued in response to the console command:

STOP TSS

Action:

A prompt for response is issued at the console.Valid responses are:

• I-Returns TSS to normal operation. Use this if the operator command was issued in error.
• Z-Terminates the TSS task for ZEOD (end-of-day) processing. Use this if a permanent shutdown is intended prior to an IPL.

  When OPTIONS(17) is in effect, the operator is prompted for the MSCA previous password or for a valid ACID and PASSWORD prior to confirmation, using TSS9080A.

  Normally, ZEOD processing will prompt for confirmation with TSS9102W.

  If Z was selected unintentionally, when ZEOD processing completes you can perform an emergency restart (without an IPL)with:

S TSS,,,RESETEOD

• T-Shuts down the TSS address space prior to a subsequent restart. Use this for a temporary shutdown to install software updates when an IPL is not required.

  The operator is prompted for the MSCA previous password, or for a valid ACID and PASSWORD prior to the normal confirmation using TSS9080A.

The system uses DOWN options if security is shut down in any mode other than DORMANT. DOWN options, associated with facilities, affect only job/session initiation and tape processing.

After the shutdown, use the following command to restart the product:

S TSS,,,REINIT

If CA Cleanup is installed, the ETCL or TASA task must be restarted manually.
