Types of Synchronization

The two types of synchronizations are as follows:

Selective Synchronization

A selective (item‑specific) synchronization lets you specify which users and resources to synchronize. For example, you can synchronize only users whose ACIDs begin with PAY, users who use the profile PAYROLL, or users in the CHIACCT department. Likewise, you can synchronize all resources, all table resources, or just the table resources that begin with PAYROLL. With masking and the use of certain parameters, you can further define the scope of the Catalog Synchronization Utility.

For example, if your purpose is to enable a product such as QMF or Advantage™ CA Easytrieve® Plus to use the DB2 catalog information, you can periodically run a selective synchronization just on table resources.
