Because disk arrays are becoming a popular way to move enterprise storage away from DAS devices and toward SAN environments, CA SRM provides comprehensive support for managing SAN devices.
Supporting these devices focuses on logical to physical mapping. This type of mapping can, for example, provide the ability to determine the physical drive on which each file or database table resides.
CA SRM can collect data from a number of popular disk array devices.
Defined Application support enables you to monitor resources for applications that are not currently supported by CA SRM. Using the Defined Application objects, you can manage storage consumption for those applications. This includes both software that your company purchased and software that your company created. After you register these applications, you can use the objects to set alerts, plan capacity, and organize the data. You can filter, sort, and query these objects, represent them graphically, and customize their presentation in other ways.
