As a prerequisite system requirement, CA SRM Web Reporter uses MS SQL Server. Based on how it was installed, your MS SQL Server is configured in one of two modes:
CA SRM Web Reporter supports both modes.
The following table shows the system parameters and differences between Windows and SQL authentication:
|
System Functions |
Windows Authentication |

Web Reporter Control Panel Operation |
The Web Reporter Control Panel uses the user's login information to connect to the SQL server. Therefore, that user should have the correct privileges (connect, grant, select, update, and delete) to access the CA SRM central database on the SQL Server. |
During the installation if the users selected SQL Authentication mode and entered the credentials, then these are stored and the passwords are encrypted. When the user opens the Web Reporter Web Reporter Control Panel and connects to the CA SRM central database, the Control Panel reads the user's name and password, and then connects to the CA SRM central database. |
|
Web Reporter Data Bridge Operation |
From the Web Reporter Control Panel, when you click Add a Server, the Register SRM Server window opens. When you select Windows Authentication, the Web Reporter Control Panel automatically acquires the CA SRM Administrator account name and privileges from the CA SRM application server; therefore the Domain and User name are no. The Web Reporter Control Panel grants the required privileges to the CA SRM central database and sends acknowledgement to the CA SRM application server. The WRDB checks the SQL connection and starts pushing the bulk update. |
When the user selects SQL Authentication in the Web Reporter Control Panel Add SRM Server window, the Web Reporter Control Panel prompts the user to provide SQL user name and password to connect to the Central Database. WRDB checks the SQL connection and starts pushing the bulk update. |

Trend Consolidation Service Connection |
During installation, you should have provided the Windows account. Privileges for the CA SRM central database are set to that account to start the service. |
Trend Consolidation service works with Local System Account. |
