Business Intelligence and Business Objects

CA Business Intelligence is a set of common reporting and analytic software that is used by a variety of CA products for presenting information and supporting business decisions. CA products use CA Business Intelligence to integrate, analyze, and present vital information required for effective enterprise IT management using a variety of reporting options. Included in CA Business Intelligence is SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise, a complete suite of performance management, information management, reporting, and query and analysis tools.

Note: Business Objects is an SAP company.

CA SRM Web Reporter is built on the Business Objects Web Intelligence product and uses CA's customized packaging of the CA Business Intelligence. BusinessObjects Enterprise is the default CA SRM reporting system, so the reporting and security features of CA SRM Web Reporter are based on the features available in BusinessObjects Enterprise.

The two primary components of BusinessObjects Enterprise used in administering, monitoring, and configuring the reporting environment are as follows:

InfoView

A web portal that lets you interact with reports by viewing, running, and scheduling report types including, but not limited to, Web Intelligence and Crystal Reports. You use Infoview to create and administer CA SRM Web Reporter reports.

Central Management Console (CMC)

The Central Management Console (CMC) is the main administration utility for Business Objects Business Intelligence platform.

This facility provides access to all Business Objects administration functions. Using the CMC, you can deploy reports, configure security, tune servers, and manage licensing.
