The CA Spool SAP interface is used in conjunction with the application known as the R/2 System, produced by the German company SAP AG. The R/2 System is an integrated and online set of accountancy, manufacturing, sales administration, and personnel applications. The SAP R/2 system maintains its own print spool, but support for calling external spooling systems was introduced in Version 4.3G. This support is provided as two exit points in the R/2 code.
Two exits, SAPSPEI and SAPSPEX, are delivered by SAP for the JES2 spool, and by CA for CA Spool. These exits copy the output from SAP R/2 transactions directly into CA Spool, instead of to the SAP print spool. The CA Spool menu system can be used to view the reports, and so on.
