Background

When you create a print file in line format for an AFP printer (IBM 3820 or 3812, for example), you can request formatting by directly specifying the PAGEDEF, FORMDEF, and CHARS parameters, or by using default values. At printing time, PSF creates a formatted data stream using your print file and formatting modules loaded according to your parameters. These modules can be default PSF modules, or installation-written modules.
