Enable and Disable Rules

The Policy Server User Interface allows you to enable and disable rules. If a rule is enabled, SiteMinder automatically protects the resource(s) specified in the rule. If a rule is disabled, SiteMinder does not automatically protect the resource(s) specified in the rule. By default, when you create a rule, it is enabled.

If a rule is enabled, no one may access the protected resource(s) unless a policy that contains the rule has been created, and the user attempting to access the rule is part of a group specified in the policy. To allow access to resources before a policy is put into place, you can disable the rule.

To enable or disable a rule

  1. Log into the Policy Server User Interface.
  2. Depending on your administrative privileges, do one of the following:
  3. If you have the Manage System and Domain Objects privilege:
    1. In the Object pane, click on the Domains tab.
    2. Expand the policy domain that contains the rule you want to disable or enable.
    3. Select the realm or nested realm that contains the rule you want to disable or enable.
    4. In the List pane, select the rule you want to disable or enable.
  4. You have the Manage Domain Objects privilege:
