Important! Proceed with caution when deleting or editing an administrator.
When deleting an administrator, be careful not to delete all administrators, including the one you are logged on as. If you delete all administrators you will have to use the smreg or tool (for Solaris) or the smreg.exe tool (for WinNT) included on the installation CD to restore a default Administrator using the following command:
smreg -su <password>
Important! Before running a SiteMinder utility or executable on Windows Server 2008, open the command line window with Administrator permissions. Open the command line window this way, even if your account has Administrator privileges. For more information, see the release notes for your SiteMinder component.
This command resets the password of the SiteMinder administrator account to the value you enter for <password>.
Note: For more information about this tool, run smreg.exe from a command prompt with the -? switch.
When editing, be careful not to modify the settings for the administrator you are logged on as. If you change your administrative settings, you may lose access to SiteMinder features. If you lock yourself out of a feature, an administrator with full access to the Policy Server must restore your privileges.
