The Policy Server allows you to configure a realm of resources that a user accesses via a Web Server.
Note: When you create or modify a Policy Server object in the Policy Server User Interface, use ASCII characters. Object creation or modification with non-ASCII characters is not supported.
To configure a realm protected by a SiteMinder Web Agent
In this tab you select a WeB Agent and an authentication scheme, specify a resource filter, and select a default protection state for the realm.
The Session tab allows you to configure session timeouts, session type (persistent or non-persistent), and whether synchronous auditing is enabled for the realm.
The Advanced tab of the SiteMinder Realms dialog allows you to select registration schemes, authorization directory mappings, and which types of events (authentication and authorization) are processed for the realm. Processed events enable you to associate rules with the indicated types of events.
Registration schemes allow new user accounts to be created in a user directory. If the authentication scheme associated with a realm requires that users have identities in a user directory, assigning a registration scheme to the realm provides a mechanism for adding new accounts in the user directory.
Directory mappings allow users who are authenticated in one directory to be authorized in another directory.
SiteMinder supports the definition of rules that are triggered by authentication attempts and authorization attempts. If you define rules based on these events you must select the appropriate check box.
