Configure ODBC Data Sources for Failover

You can configure multiple ODBC data sources for failover. Once you configure the data sources for failover, if the primary data source fails to respond to a request, the next data source defined in the failover order responds to the request.

Note: When you create or modify a Policy Server object in the Policy Server User Interface, use ASCII characters. Object creation or modification with non-ASCII characters is not supported.

To configure failover for ODBC data sources

  1. In the Directory Setup group box, click Configure.

The SiteMinder ODBC Directory Failover Setup dialog opens.

  2. In the Add a Data Source group box, enter a data source name in the ODBC Data Source field.
  3. Click Add Failover.

The Policy Server User Interface adds the data source name to the Failover Order list in the Current Setup group box.

  4. Add any remaining data source names by repeating steps 2 through 3.
  5. Click OK.

The Policy Server saves the list of ODBC data sources for failover. The data sources are displayed in a comma-delimited list in the Data Source field of the User Directory Dialog.
