Specify Allowable IP Addresses for Policies

The Policy Server User Interface allows you to specify an IP address, range of IP addresses, or a subnet mask that users must use in order for a policy to fire. For example, if you include a rule that allows access to resources in the policy, and then you specify a range of IP addresses, only those users who login in from one of the specified IP addresses will be allowed access to the protected resources.

To specify IP addresses

  1. Open the Policy Dialog.
  2. Select the IP Addresses tab.
  3. Click on the Add... button.

The Add an IP Address dialog opens.

  4. Select one of the radio buttons to indicate whether you want to add a Single Host, Host Name, Subnet Mask, or Range of IP addresses to the policy.
  5. Fill in the appropriate information based on your selection. See one of the following:
  6. Click OK to save IP address information and return to the SiteMinder Policy dialog.
