Installation Prerequisites for an IIS 7.0 Web Server
The applet-based FSS Administrative UI is automatically installed with the Policy Server. To operate the FSS Administrative UI on an IIS 7.0 web server, there are prerequisite setup steps.
Complete the following steps before installing the Policy Server and running the Configuration Wizard so that IIS 7.0 is available as a web server option.
To select IIS 7.0 as a web server for the FSS Administrative UI
- Access the Windows Server Manager on the Windows 2008 system.
- Add the IIS 7.0 web server as a server role with the following role services installed:
- CGI
- ISAPI Extensions
- ISAPI Filters
- Exit from the Server Manager.
- Access the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager by selecting Start, Administrator Tools, IIS.
- Expand the server node for your server and select Application Pools.
- Click the DefaultAppPool then select Basic Settings in the Actions pane.
- From the Managed pipeline mode list, change the setting for the pool to Classic.
- Click OK.
- Restart IIS 7.0.
- Open any web page to start the application pool.
You can now run the Policy Server Configuration Wizard and IIS 7.0 will be available as a web server option.
How to Install the Policy Server
To install the Policy Server complete the following procedures:
- Review the Policy Server component considerations.
- Review the policy store considerations.
- Review the FIPS considerations.
- Gather information for the Policy Server installer.
- Run the Policy Server installer.
- (Optional) If you configured SNMP, enable SNMP event trapping.
- (Optional) If you do not use the Policy Server installer to configure a policy store, manually configure the policy store.
