Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS) is Micorsoft's Web Services-based solution for federation and single sign-on (SSO). ADFS runs on Windows Server 2003 R2 and accomplishes SSO by letting partners securely share a user's identity information and access rights across a secure network.
ADFS extends SSO functionality to Internet applications, letting users have a seamless Web SSO interaction when they access the organization's Web-based applications.
