Prerequisites

Before you create a group, verify that you have performed the following tasks:

  1. Create a Super User in the Policy Server with rights to manage the Policy Store.
  2. Assign the Super User the permission to access the SPS Admin UI that is protected.
  3. Create Proxy Service instance in the XPS store for each SPS server you want to group. Perform the following steps on each SPS server you want to register:
    1. Open the command prompt and execute the following command:

      On Windows

      XPSExplorer.exe
      

      On UNIX

      XPSExplorer.sh
      

      The list of XPS Objects is displayed.

    2. Locate the number to define a ProxyServer.
    3. Type the number corresponding to ProxyServer and press Enter.

      The ProxyServer description is displayed.

    4. Type N and press Enter.

      The information on how to create a SPS instance is displayed.

    5. Type 2 and press Enter.

      You are prompted for a host name.

    6. Type the hostname of SPS server and press Enter.
    7. Type 3 and press Enter.

      You are prompted for the name of the ProxyServer.

    8. Type the name of SPS server and press Enter.
    9. Type 4 and press Enter.

      You are prompted for a port number.

    10. Type the port number SPS uses for communication and press Enter.
    11. Type 6 and press Enter.

      You are promoted for the version number.

    12. Type 0 to define the version number that tracks the group configuration changes and press Enter.
    13. Type G and press Enter.
    14. Type U and press Enter.
    15. (Optional) To validate the proxy server details, type V and press Enter.
