Installation Considerations › CA SOI Prerequisites
CA SOI Prerequisites
As a prerequisite, before installing CA SOI, verify the following items:
- Verify that your system meets all the system requirements detailed in this Release Notes.
- Before installing any CA SOI component on a Windows server, verify that the server name conforms to these guidelines:
- Server Name follows RFC specifications, particularly RFC-952 and RFC-1123.
- Server Name adheres to Microsoft NetBiOS Computer naming conventions.
- If the server is in the DNS, the DNS name matches the NetBiOS name.
- Verify that all domain managers that you are going to monitor with CA SOI are installed and managing the infrastructure.
- Install a supported version of Microsoft SQL Server, and configure it to use Mixed Mode authentication.
- If you want to enable the reporting functionality, install BusinessObjects in your enterprise before installing CA SOI. Use the CA Business Intelligence for Windows disk. If it is already installed in the environment, the SA Manager and UI Server installation can point to the server where it is located.
- If you do not already have CA EEM installed in your enterprise, install it before installing CA SOI. If CA EEM is already installed in the environment, the SA Manager and UI Server installation point to the server where it is located. CA EEM requires that the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is installed first.
- Define a plan for the CA SOI deployment, such as where to install CA SOI and how many systems to monitor. For more information, see the Implementation Guide.
- Grant administrative privileges to the user who performs the installation.
- Grant sysadmin privileges to the database user you want to use to connect to the CA SOI database. After installation, you can reduce the user role to db_owner.
- For more information about manager component installations, see the Implementation Guide.
- For more information about connector installations, see the respective product-specific Connector Guide.
