Set CI User Attributes

Administrators can create custom CI user attributes that let you define users for a CI. For example, you have a CI that represents a server and you want to set the owner to a specific name. In this case, you define a CI user attribute to the owner name.

You can also set a CI user attribute by modifying the XML for a connector to create or update the CI.

You can use the CI user attributes for escalation policy, escalation policy actions, exception criteria, and as a message token. For more information about enabling and adding the CI user attributes, see the Event and Alert Management Best Practices Guide.

Follow these steps:

  1. Expand a service and select a CI in the Navigation pane of the Operations Console.
  2. Select the Information tab in the Component Detail pane.
  3. Scroll down to the CI User Attributes section and expand the section.
  4. Click the Set link next to a CI User Attribute.
  5. Complete the field.
