How to Use the ODBC Driver

You can use SQL instead of GRLoader to load the TWA. We recommend that you use the ODBC driver that is provided with CA SDM, instead of native SQL services. Using the ODBC driver provides the following benefits:

• Performance
• Security
• Database independence
• Data integrity in an environment where there can be database updates coming from the CA SDM server at the same time that the bulk editing tool is running.

Cautions

• Only CA SDM ODBC drivers honor security features such as multi-tenancy, data partitioning, and role access. SQL that is executed using the native DBMS drivers does not enforce security.
• Make frequent data backups when performing updates using native SQL.
