Define a Service

After you create a service, define it. Defining a service includes associating it with one or more service option groups. When catalog users view the service, they can verify whether to request it based on the service option group it contains.

To define a service

1. Select Service Builder, Services.

   The services page appears.

2. Expand the tree to display the service of interest and click the Define icon.

   The page for defining that service appears, with the name of the service at the top of the page. This page appears in one of the following formats:

   • If no service option groups are associated with this service, all service option groups appear. The Show All link is pre-selected.
   • If one or more service option groups are already associated with this service, those service option groups appear. The Show Selected link is pre-selected.
3. Click the Show All link, if it is not already selected.

   The list of all service option groups appears (or is refreshed).

4. Do all of the following that apply:
   • Include a service option group in the service by selecting its check box in the Include column.
   • Display and update a service option group by clicking the Plus sign next to it.

     The details of the service option group appear. Do all of the following that apply:

     • Set permissions on which user roles can subscribe to or request the selected service option. To do so, select the service option and click the Set Permissions icon in its Actions column.
     • Set thresholds for QoS SLAs for request fulfillment reports. To do so, select the service option and click the Set SLAs icon in its Actions column.
     • Select the service options that are included in the service by default. To do so, select the check box for the service option in the Default column.
     • Select the service options that are required in the service. To do so, select the check box for the service option in the Include column.
   • Add a new service option group to the list of all service option groups by clicking Add New Service Option Group.
   • Set permissions on which user roles can subscribe to or request the service option group. To do so, click the Set Permissions icon in the Actions column for the service option group.
   • Delete a service option group from a service by clearing the check box for the service option group in the Include column.
   • Delete a service option group from the Catalog system by clicking the Delete icon for the service option group in the Actions column.
5. Click Save Selection.

   Your changes are saved.

You have defined a service.
