Install Catalog Content

Install the Catalog Content on the first (formerly primary) Service View server after CA Service Catalog is installed.

Note: Attempting to install content that would overlay any existing same-named content in your catalog causes the installation of the entire set of services in the same high-level folder to fail. For example, if the name of a folder or service in IT Support Services duplicates a folder or service already in your catalog, none of the IT Support Services folders or services is installed. However, other selected folders such as Network Services or other service areas that do not have folder or service names duplicated in your existing catalog are installed.

To install Catalog Content

  1. Verify that the DBMS client (Oracle client or SQL Server client) is installed locally, unless this computer is the DBMS server.

For instructions to install the DBMS client, see your DBMS documentation.

  2. Access your CA Service Catalog installation media and run setup.exe.

The installation Product Explorer window appears.

  3. Select CA Service Catalog, Best Practices Content: Foundation, Windows and click Install.
  4. The installation wizard guides you through the installation process.
  5. You can select from a collection of high-level folders of services.
  6. Click Finish when the setup wizard has completed.

To install updated content for same-named services into your catalog, delete the old content from the catalog before running the Catalog Content installer to load the newer content.

Installation log files are stored in %USM_HOME%\logs\install.
