Configure Chargeback by Resource

Chargeback by resource is the method used for charging for reserved resources on physical systems and virtual machines (Hyper-V and VMware).

When assigning chargeback rates, keep in mind that the charge is for 24 hours a day and 7 days a week during the reservation period. Enter realistic hourly rates and surcharge amounts based on factors like energy costs and hardware maintenance expense. Most rates range from 10 cents to 50 cents an hour.

Note: Chargeback is optional. The default rate is zero (no chargeback).

To configure chargeback by resource

  1. As administrator in Reservation Manager, under Administer Your Reservation Manager, click Manage your chargeback models, select a model, and then select Details from the Actions menu.

    A resource chargeback pane appears.

  2. Enter values in the following fields:

Note: When storage tiers are allowed, Base Disk (GB) and Additional Disk are not available in the following step. Hourly rates are entered in the storage tiers instead. See Configure Chargeback for Storage Tiers.

  3. (Optional) Enter the following surcharges in any combination. The surcharges are charged when the base thresholds entered in the previous step are exceeded. Use the checkboxes to activate the surcharges.
