Create Actions and Rules

You can create rules to identify the problems or needs of individual servers or services. Rules are sets of conditions that if evaluated as true run specified actions. Rules are based on server or service usage or events.

Before you can create a rule, you must define an action. You can choose from a range of predefined action types or you can create your own action type. If you want to perform more than one action at a time, you need to create a sequence of actions.

After you define your actions, you can create rules that will trigger execution of your actions or you can set time schedules for them.

To create a working action, perform the following steps:

1. Create an action by doing one of the following:
   • Use a Predefined Action Type
   • Create a Custom Action
2. (Optional) Define an Action Sequence
3. Set up an action trigger by doing one of the following:
   • Create a Rule
   • Define a Schedule
