Deploy a CA OS Image and Other Software Packages

When CA Server Automation is integrated with CA ITCM, Solaris Jumpstart, or AIX NIM imaging, you can deploy OS images and additional software packages to managed servers.

Follow these steps:

  1. From CA ITCM, Solaris JumpStart, or AIX NIM, create the image, and set up any platform-specific properties for the image.
  2. (Optional) If you want to deploy additional software with the image, click Resources, right-click Data Center, select Packaging, Manage Templates, and create a template.
  3. Click Resources, right-click the system to deploy to in the Explore tree, and select Provisioning, Re-Image.

    The Re-Image panel opens.

  4. Enter valid credentials for the target machine.
  5. Do one of the following depending on the platform and imaging type:
  6. (Optional) To deliver software with the image, select a Domain and Scalability Server to use and select the Template to deploy.
  7. Click OK.

The panel submits a request to deploy the image and any additional software template to the selected machine.

Note: Image deployment can take 15 minutes or longer.

Track the status of image deployment in the Jobs tab and deployment events in the Events tab.
