Monitor Performance from the Dashboard

The Dashboard lets you monitor key functions in your data center and provides customizable shared dashboards and private dashboards. Additional First Step, Service, and Estimated Savings Dashboards provide quick access to operations, service provisioning, and cost modeling.

The Portlet Library includes:

Systems Status

Displays the number of systems currently in each state in a summary pie chart.

Degraded/Warning/Minor Failure (yellow)

Indicates that the system is not in an optimal state. For example, it can be reporting recoverable errors.

Building (blue)

Indicates that the product is imaging or provisioning computers in this state.

Unknown (gray)

Indicates that the product cannot determine the state.

Normal (green)

Indicates that the product can collect information from the resources in this state.

Critical/Major Failure (red)

Indicates that some or all of the resource is degraded, or that the resource is not functioning and recovery is not possible.

Note: The resource icon in the Explore pane of other pages also indicates the Problem state.

Services

Lists all defined services that are monitored, their use (as a percentage), and a severity state. Services are systems that are grouped to perform a logical function (typically, a business process such as an online banking service).

If you click a service, the view changes to the Policy page, which displays a summary of the use for the group and provides access to tasks you can perform for the group.

Services Status

Displays the status of the product services. When you click the status message, the view changes to display the Administration page and the Configuration panel, on which you can review the status of individual CA Server Automation services. If a component is not running or fails, the icon appears as a red X and the panel displays how many services are down.

SystemEDGE Machines Status

Displays the status of the SystemEDGE machines. The Machines Status filter can display by severity, monitor (local, remote, or both), and machine name.

SystemEDGE Objects Status

Displays the status of the SystemEDGE objects. The Objects Status filter can display by severity, monitor (local, remote, or both), and substring.

History

Displays a graphical representation of the systems in your Data Center and their utilization history as an aggregate of CPU and memory usage for the specified time range. Click the time range for which you want to display the history: one hour (1h), two hours (2h), six hours (6h), 12 hours (12h), one day (1d), one week (1wk), two weeks (2wks), or one month (1mo).

DataCenter Utilization

Provide quick access to common system functions.

Provisioning

Displays provisioning data, including Agent Deployment (deployment tasks and task status, packages, and jobs).

Policy

Displays data for policy components, including use by service (policy performance) and policy types.

Analytics

Portlets for virtual resources are provided to keep track of various top and bottom utilization parameters such as CPU, RAM, and disk utilization. You can access these using the Dashboard or the Analytics subtab on the Resources tab.

Note: These portlets are available for VMware vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V management only.

Service Provisioning

Provides quick access to service provisioning and service status.

Estimated Savings

Calculates and displays historical and current savings information on selected operations.

First Step

Collects interview-style information and guides user through configuration tasks.
