Control the Power Status of a Virtual Machine

You can control the power status of virtual machines that have been reserved for you if your administrator enabled this feature. This means, for example, that you can turn on the virtual machine without contacting an administrator.

The View your reservations link on the Reservation Manager home page lets you change the power status of a virtual machine. The link displays your reservations in a table. Click a Reservation ID link to display the Reservation Details pane.

Power status options are available in the Reserved Systems section at the bottom of the Reservation Details pane.

The following status options are listed on the Actions menu:

Power On

Turns on the virtual machine. This option is available for the Power Off and Suspended states.

Power Off

Turns off the virtual machine. This option is available for the Power On status.

Suspend

Saves the state of a virtual machine and deactivates it.

Reset

Stops a virtual machine without saving the present state of memory, and then restarts it. This option is available for the Power On status.

Shutdown

Sends a shutdown command to the operating system but leaves the virtual machine active. This option is available for the Power On status.
