Configure Windows for SNMP
The SNMP Service and the SNMP Trap Service are installed with Windows, but are not a part of the typical setup. Verify that the SNMP Service and Trap Service are running.
To configure Windows for SNMP
- Click Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services.
The Services dialog appears.
- Perform one of the following:
- If SNMP Service and SNMP Trap Service are listed, continue the Event Forwarding configuration.
- If SNMP Service and SNMP Trap Service are not listed, continue with step 3.
- Click Start, Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
The Windows Components Wizard dialog appears.
- Scroll down and select Management and Monitoring Tools, and click Next.
You are prompted for the Windows installation media.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
- Repeat step 1 to verify that SNMP Service and SNMP Trap Service are running.
