System Hardware Monitoring

Together with Hardware Interface Service, this product enables you to process messages about system hardware. The service communicates with the Base Control Program internal interface (BCPii) to the Hardware Management Console (HMC). You connect to the service using the HISRV parameter group.

You can use these messages in your resource definitions and EventView rules. These messages have an ID prefix of RMHIS.

Notes:

• To use RMHIS* messages in a resource definition, prefix the messages with $MN-. For information about the $MN- special message prefix, see the Reference Guide.
• RMHIS* messages do not go to SYSLOG.
• By default, RMHIS* messages do not go to the activity log. You can enable logging through the HISRV parameter group.

Typically, you set up one region to monitor your HMC network.
