This chapter explains how to access the SMF data that is managed by CA SMF Director for billing/chargeback, performance measurement, job tracking/scheduling, and other processing.
This product allows you to EXTRACT or PRINT the SMF records contained in the history file data sets with the minimal knowledge of where these history file data sets exist. Using the EXTRACT and/or PRINT control statements, you can select SMF records for further processing by SMF ID (SID), record type, or date/time range. You can also limit the number of SMF records placed in the output file by count, or call your own user exit. Create the user exit to determine which criteria to use in select in SMF records for the output file.
The remainder of this chapter illustrates how to specify the JCL and control statements to extract or print SMF records in various ways.
