Select Gauge/Table View Settings

A gauge-style chart shows average CPU utilization values from the indicated device. The table view provides bar chart values, color-coded to indicate the severity.

To use a generic gauge-style chart, select the settings that determine how the view interprets the data. You can select a metric family for reporting. Based on the metrics you select, you can select settings that affect the "needle" on the gauge and the color zones that indicate the metric severity.

You can change several settings for each view on a dashboard. In addition to providing a new title, you can change settings that are related to severity ratings. To provide excellent performance in a large reporting environment, you can set an upper limit on the number of results that are returned. You can also select another group context for the data.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click the Options (gear) icon on the view, and select Edit from the menu.

    The view Settings dialog opens.

  2. Change the view Title or Subtitle to reflect the modified view. The Subtitle is already selected if the view appears on an item context page.
  3. Select a Metric Family to display in the view.

For example, select the 'CPU' metric family to see CPU statistics.

  4. Select the metric for the gauge needle. The available options depend on the metric family you selected.
  5. Select either a device or a component for the Aggregate Data Level field. This selection determines whether you see an aggregated gauge that is calculated at a device level or a component level.
  6. Select status severity as percentage or numeric values for the color zones.

Note: Setting the start status value for Moderate as higher than Critical reverses the severity to enable higher values as a good status.

The Context Settings area shows the group or item context for the view. The option to select another context is not enabled on item context pages.

  7. Select the scope of your changes from the Apply Changes drop-down. Select one of the following options:

Note: The availability of these options depends on your user account role rights.

  8. Click Save.

The view is refreshed to reflect your updates.
