Top Interface Discards

The Top Interface Discards view lets you quickly determine interfaces where congestion or saturation problems are occurring. Discards are reports of actual packet loss. Typically, the loss occurs when interface buffer space is depleted. Discards typically occur in small bursts for microcongestion events, and they occur in recurring bursts when chronic congestion exists.

This view shows discard rates for inbound and outbound traffic on the interfaces in the reporting groups or managed items with the highest number of discarded packets during the selected time period.
