Calendar Heat Chart - Percent Memory Utilization

The Calendar Heat Chart - Percent Memory Utilization assigns "heat" (severity) ratings to memory utilization values and color-codes each heat category. The chart then plots heat patterns using colored blocks on a calendar table. You can modify heat values to reflect your unique environment.

Calendar Heat Chart views help engineers and managers identify patterns in utilization, latency, and loss metrics. Identifying such patterns can be a critical step in locating the source of performance issues that might appear to be intermittent. Usage patterns also aid in capacity planning for circuits, routers, servers, and other devices.

The Memory Utilization metric is an average utilization statistic derived from the percentage of available memory in use at a given moment, averaged over the reporting period. Use this view to find patterns in memory utilization metrics for each hour, day, and week of the month.

By default, the Calendar Heat Chart - Percent Memory Utilization includes the following information:

Device Name

Identifies the managed item that was the source of the performance data. If an administrator defined an alias for the device item, the alias is displayed. Otherwise, the discovered device name is displayed.

Percent Memory Utilization

Indicates the amount (percentage) of memory capacity being used; derived by dividing used memory by total memory.

Edit the Calendar Heat Chart

You can edit a calendar chart view to change the title, the threshold values for color zones, or the managed item context.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click the Edit icon on the view, and select Edit.

    The Settings dialog opens.

  2. Change the following options as required:
    Title

Appears in the title bar of the view.

    Sub Title

    Appears just underneath the title.

Default: The type of managed item whose data is displayed in the view.

    Time Display Format

Lets you select the time format for the chart, either 12 hours or 24 hours.

    Zone Start

Lets you change the starting value of each heat zone. The defaults are based on IT industry standards for performance.

Units are specific to the current metric; for example, the default Red Zone Start value for CPU utilization is 70 %.

    Business Week Start

Lets you select the weekday on which to base the business week pattern-matching algorithm. The pattern is adjusted to count the selected day and four days after it.

    Default: Monday.

  3. Click to select another managed item in the Context Settings area.

Data from the new item will be shown in the view.

  4. Select the scope of your changes from the Apply Changes drop-down. Select one of the following options:

Note: The availability of these options depends on your user account role rights.

  5. Click Save.

The view is refreshed to reflect your updates.
