Starting CA PMO

If you add the S PMO command to the member SYS1.PARMLIB(COMMNDxx), CA PMO starts automatically when you IPL your system. In addition, you can use this command to start CA PMO from the console. (You may need to start CA PMO from the console occasionally. For instance, if you change the values of any parameters, you must stop CA PMO and restart it from the console.)

Format

To start CA PMO, use the following command:

S PMO [,FORMAT=YES|NO]

This command has the following operands:

PMO

The CA PMO keyword.

FORMAT

You specify this operand as follows:

FORMAT=NO

Indicates that you do not want the PMO/XSYS control file to be formatted.

FORMAT=YES

Tells CA PMO to format the PMO/XSYS control file. If you are using the PMO/XSYS option, you must use FORMAT=YES the first time you start CA PMO after installing it.

Messages

After you issue this command, CA PMO usually responds:

PMO001I CA PMO r.v SERVICE PACK n ACTIVE
PMO015I	CA PMO RUNTIME PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZER - COPYRIGHT 2011-
		CA, INC

These responses are written to the operator console. You will also be shown message PMO501, which indicates whether the LLA is active or inactive.

If you last stopped CA PMO with the P PMO command, CA PMO also responds:

PMO005I COMMON STORAGE RECLAIMED

If CA PMO is already active when you issue the S PMO command, it issues this message:

PMO004I CA PMO ALREADY ACTIVE

This message is followed by a U100 abend, and the version of CA PMO that is already running will remain active.

If you specified the XSYS parameter in your parameter data set, CA PMO starts PMO/XSYS at this time. You receive the following message:

PMO701I PMO/XSYS ACTIVE

During initialization, CA PMO code moves to ECSA and sets up the address space. This address space remains active until a specific command or other termination process disables it.

Note: If you receive any other messages in response to the S PMO command, see the CA PMO Message Guide.
