Hardware Requirements

CA PMO runs on any IBM or compatible processor running under a supported release of z/OS.

Software Requirements

The following software is required for CA PMO:

• Supported release of z/OS. For the latest information on supported operating system levels, check the CA support web site at www.ca.com.
• If you are an IMS user, disable the IMS Resident BLDL List. For details, see the IBM documentation. The change to IMS will take effect the next time you start IMS.

CA Common Services Requirements

The following CA Common Services are used with CA PMO:

• CAIRIM
• CA LMP
• CA Health Checker Common Service

Note: If other CA products are installed at your site, some of these services may already be installed.

Security Requirements

To complete the tasks in this guide, you need the following security privileges:

• Read authority for the installation data sets and SMP/E libraries.
• Update authority for the SMP/E libraries.
• Create authority for all associated data sets.

Other Requirements

Before you install CA PMO, be sure to have sufficient storage space in the extended common service area (ECSA).

CA PMO requires approximately 64KB of ECSA for SVC intercept routines and other miscellaneous data areas. Each PMO/XSYS and PMO/XCF will use approximately 30KB of ECSA for their buffers. The rest of ECSA required is dependent on several variables. You can calculate the approximate remaining ECSA requirement using the following formula:

((MLSIZE * # of “in use” LNKLST sets) * 118 bytes) + 
((Total # of LNKLST libraries from all “in use” LNKLST sets + NUMADDED + 
NUMCANDS + # of INCLPRVT parameter statements) * 280 bytes) + 8K bytes

Note: An in use LNKLST set is either the current set or an active set. A data set that appears in multiple LNKLST sets should be counted once for each set when determining the total number of LNKLST libraries.

Concurrent Releases

You can install this release of CA PMO and continue to use an older release for your production environment. If you plan to continue to run a previous release, consider the following points:

• When installing into an existing SMP/E environment, this installation deletes previous releases.
• If you acquired your product from tape or with Pax-Enhanced ESD, select different target and distribution zones for your new release from where your current release is installed. The new zones use different libraries than your current release.

  Note: CA MSM installs into a new CSI by default.

• Define DDDEF entries in your new zones to point SMP/E to the proper libraries for installation. Ensure that they point to the new release libraries.
• If used, the control file to be used by release 4.4 must be formatted by release 4.4. The control file contents are changed for release 4.4. A release 4.3 CA PMO cannot use a release 4.4 control file; likewise, a release 4.4 CA PMO cannot use a release 4.3 control file.
