Favorites, Subscriptions and Roles - Overview

A Favorite is a bookmark to a report or filter that you want to have quick access to online. Subscriptions can consist of any of the following Favorite types:

Most of the viewable or usable entities that you specifically select can be added as a favorite. Note that all these types of data are frequently referred to as "reports." For more information, see Different Types of Favorites Table.

A Subscription is a group of Favorites that has been given a name and description. This Subscription name can now be used by Administrators and Advanced Users to assign this bundle of reports to one or more Roles. Only Advanced Users and Administrators can create Subscriptions, and only Administrators can assign the Subscriptions to other Roles.

At the most basic level, a System or Group Administrator can use a Subscription to assign reports to users so that the users can simply see a select list of the reports they need to use.

With a Subscription, you can provide access to reports to Basic User-type users who no longer have to keep track of which repositories contain which reports. These users do not have to search a repository, or even know the report's name to view their reports online.
