Creating a New Repository Object

Before you begin, gather information about your existing repositories.

To create a Repository object, you must supply information in several required fields.

Name

The Repository object’s name is used throughout CA OM Web Viewer to refer to this particular Repository object. Create a name that is recognizable to the users who will need to find that Repository.

Type

The Repository object type can only be View, Dispatch, or Bundl, and it must match the type of the actual base repository you indicate in the Location list. The Location selection list shows only repositories of the type you select. For example, if the base mainframe repository is a CA View system, you must select a type of View.

Location

The Repository object must point to at least one repository location--this location consists of one specific mainframe system ID, a DRAS system, and one View, Dispatch, or Bundl system.

Choose a repository location from the drop-down list. You can refresh the list of choices with the DRAS Discovery button. The location string is explained below. Additionally, you can set up alternate locations that point to the same base View, Dispatch, or Bundl system to support DRAS load balancing.

Note: For more information, see the DRAS Load Balancing topic.

Location Address Explanation

All locations are a string that is composed of at least three parts, separated by colons. Note that some locations also have the base repository’s type listed as a label in parentheses.
