Server Configuration

pdm_edit.pl lets you add functionality and increase the performance of the enterprise system. You can configure the CA SDM services. CA SDM has basic daemons on the primary server. You can add more daemons on the primary server, and then expand your system across several servers by adding secondary servers, which increase volume, performance, and enhance security.

If you use pdm_edit.pl to modify the daemon configuration, the customizations available using pdm_configure are disabled. For example, after you change the pdm_startup.tpl file with pdm_edit.pl, you cannot enable a web director or event converter through the pdm_configure GUI. You can customize these features through the pdm_edit.pl utility.

The pdm_edit.pl top menu appears after you run pdm_edit.pl and enter operating system-specific questions. This menu lists the capabilities of this utility. Entering a number from this menu takes you into submenus for the selected feature. From the submenus, you can return to the top menu. At the end of your session, you select “Quit NO SAVE” or “Save and quit.” The action creates a pdm_startup.dat file, which is a summary of all your selections. Keep this file so you can resume later. The utility creates a pdm_startup.rmt file, and serves as a replacement for the $NX_ROOT/pdmconf/pdm_startup.tpl file on your primary server. After installing the pdm_startup.rmt file as pdm_startup.tpl on the primary server, reconfigure without reinitializing your database to enable the changes.

Note: Host names of all secondary servers are case sensitive and represent the value of NX_LOCAL_HOST in the NX.env file on the secondary server
