How Version Control Works

CA SDM version control helps you manage system customizations that affect clients and secondary servers. You can use version control on client and secondary server installations.

Version control works as follows:

  1. When a client connects to the server, the client sends a list of its controlled components to the server.
  2. The server compares the list to its own master list.
  3. If the server finds any differences, it can do the following:

Note: Version control is not a software delivery system; the upgrade feature simply provides a way to correct minor synchronization problems between client and server.
