Select a Base Object for a CI

You can select a base object for a configuration item.

To select a base object for a CI

  1. Select a CI in the base object's family (Contact, Location, or Organization).

    The Configuration Item Detail page appears.

  2. Click Edit.

    The Update Configuration Item page appears.

  3. In the top section, complete the required fields for the base object. You can enter a value directly or click the magnifying glass to search for the object. For example, to search for a contact, complete one or more of the search fields on the Contact Search window, and click Search; then select a contact from the displayed list.
  4. Click Save.

    If the selected object is already represented by a different CI in the same family, an error message appears. Select a different object before you can modify the CI.
