Usage Notes for OPSWAIT

Consider the following information when you use the OPSWAIT function:

Do not use the OPSWAIT function in any type of rule other than an REQ rule. The use of OPSWAIT in a TOD rule delays the execution of other TOD rules. The specification of OPSWAIT in any other type of rule is ignored.
When an operation (such as waiting) must be performed from an OPS/REXX program or rule, and it is possible to perform the operation either with a TSO command processor or with an OPS/REXX function or host environment command, the OPS/REXX function or host environment command is more efficient.
When the same operation is performed repeatedly, such as in a loop, the difference in CPU resources that are consumed can be significant.

We recommend that whenever it is possible you use the OPSWAIT function in OPS/REXX programs and REQ rules rather than the OPSWAIT TSO command processor.
