ADDRESS OPSDYNAM Compared to TSO ALLOCATE
Using ADDRESS OPSDYNAM provides the following advantages over TSO ALLOCATE:
- OPSDYNAM does not require the TSO TMP. It can be executed in a batch program or in a CA OPS/MVS TOD, SCR, or REQ rule.
- Execution speed improves five to ten times in an OPS/REXX program using OPSDYNAM.
- OPSDYNAM gives you more control over the output message generation, including REXX/CLIST variable return values.
- OPSDYNAM works in TSO/E as a REXX function.
- OPSDYNAM supports GDG relative generation numbers in user selectable mode (GDGLOCATE keyword).
- OPSDYNAM allows you to allocate subsystem data sets such as CA OPS/MVS GDI data sets.
- OPSDYNAM includes the INFO, CONCAT, and DECONCAT functions of dynamic allocation
