Disable Unneeded Windows Services

Optionally, you can disable unnecessary services. This step is designed to help secure your servers. If you want to disable unneeded services on the Windows servers in your deployment, use the steps and list in this topic.

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in as a user who is a member of the Administrators group.
  2. Open the Services window: Select Start, Administrative Tools, Services.

    The Services window opens.

  3. Right-click the following services and select Manual or Disabled.

    Do not select Stop or the services will restart whenever the server is rebooted.
