Configure DEP

Data Execution Prevention (DEP) helps to prevent code executing from data pages. We recommend that you configure the DEP policy as described in this topic.

Follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the server as an administrator.
  2. Open the Control Panel.
  3. Click the System link.

    The System window opens.

  4. Click the "Advanced system settings" link.

    The System Properties dialog opens.

  5. Click the Advanced tab.
  6. Click Settings.

    The Performance Options dialog opens.

  7. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
  8. Select "Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only."
  9. Click OK to save your settings and close the Performance Options dialog.
  10. Click OK to close the System Properties dialog.

    The DEP configuration is implemented.
