Upgrade CA Anomaly Detector
Complete the steps in this topic to upgrade CA Anomaly Detector on a Windows server or virtual machine.
If the same server hosts CA Anomaly Detector and CA NetQoS Performance Center or CA Network Flow Analysis, follow the installation order described in Co-Installation. The steps are written with the expectation that you have already installed any related products that will be co-located with CA Anomaly Detector.
Follow these steps:
- Log in to the server as an administrator.
- Get the CA Anomaly Detector installation files from CA Technical Support, including:
- ADSetup9.1.3.exe: Installation or upgrade file for CA Anomaly Detector 9.1.3.
- consoletool-exe.jar: Tool that prepares for the upgrade on a system that hosts CA Anomaly Detector, but does not host any CA Network Flow Analysis components. If the installation server hosts CA Anomaly Detector and CA Network Flow Analysis software, you do not need to run this tool as part of the CA Anomaly Detector upgrade.
Burn the ISO file to a CD-ROM or DVD-ROM or extract the contents of the ISO file by using an ISO image software application.
Whether you plan to install the software locally or remotely, put the installation file on the installation server.
- If you are upgrading the program on a server that has only CA Anomaly Detector installed, double-click the consoletool-exe.jar file in Windows Explorer or enter the following command at a command prompt:
java -jar consoletool-exe.jar
Skip this step if the installation server already hosts an upgraded instance of either the:
- NFA console or
- CA Network Flow Analysis software in a standalone configuration
To launch the Console tool by double-clicking it, Windows Explorer must have the correct association for .jar files.
The ConsoleInfoToPollerTool<timestamp>.log file opens when the Console tool completes--whether the tool completes successfully or fails. The log is saved in the following location:
- <install_path>\Logs or
- <install_path>\Reporter\Logs (if CA Anomaly Detector is installed on an CA Network Flow Analysis standalone system or is co-installed with the NFA console)
- Double-click the ADSetup9.1.3.exe file in Windows Explorer.
The upgrade program opens.
- Verify that English is selected, then click OK.
The Prior Installation Detected message opens.
- Review the information, then click OK. If the existing software version is not supported for upgrade, upgrade to the supported version.
If the existing version is supported for upgrade, the Welcome screen opens.
- Click Next in the Welcome screen.
The Pre-Installation Summary screen opens.
- Review the information, then click Install.
The Installing AD screen opens, which shows the upgrade progress. When the upgrade is complete, the Install Complete screen opens.
- (Optional) If errors occurred during the upgrade, see the following logs for details:
<install_path>\migrator/migrator.log
- General installation log: <install_path>\AD_Install_<timestamp>
- Upgrade log: <install_path>\migrator\migrator.log
- Click Done in the Install Complete screen.
The program closes.
- (Optional) Verify that the services are running:
- Click Start, Programs, Administrative Tools, Services.
- Verify that the following services have the status Started:
- CA NFA Host Resolver Service
- CA NFA Hunter Tracker Service
- NetQoS Mysql51
Note: The revision history shows that the software is upgraded to the correct version. To display the revision history, complete the following substeps:
