Edit Watchdog Service Settings
Edit the Watchdog settings to change configuration values such as thresholds, trap settings, polling settings, notification address, and community strings.
Follow these steps:
- Display the Watchdog Settings page:
- Select Administration from the NFA console menu.
The Administration page opens.
- Select Health: Watchdog Settings from the Administration page menu.
The Watchdog Settings page opens and displays the current settings.
- Edit the Watchdog Service settings:
- Community String: Identifies the SNMP string that is used to identify Harvesters in your configuration. This setting lets the Watchdog Services gather information from the Harvesters. The default Community String value is 'public.'
- CPU Threshold: Sets the threshold for CPU utilization. You are notified by email when the CPU threshold on a server is exceeded on any server and an SNMP trap notification is generated, provided that the address and string are set. The default threshold for CPU utilization is 80 percent.
- Disk Threshold: Sets the threshold for disk utilization. If the disk threshold on a server is exceeded, you are notified by email and an SNMP trap notification is generated, provided that the address and string are set. The default threshold for disk utilization is 80 percent.
- Email Address: Identifies the destination email address to use for email notifications when thresholds are exceeded. To notify multiple recipients, separate the addresses with commas. The Email Address setting has no default value.
- Memory Threshold: Sets the threshold for memory utilization. You are notified by email when the memory threshold on a server is exceeded, provided that the address and string are set. The default threshold for memory utilization is 80 percent.
- SNMP Retries: Sets the number of times the program attempts to poll an SNMP device. The default number of SNMP Retries is 2. A high number of SNMP Retries can affect performance, depending on the configuration of your network.
- SNMP Timeout: Sets the number of seconds before an SNMP poll times out. The default SNMP Timeout value is 5.
- System Check Interval: Sets the number of minutes between Watchdog system checks. The default System Check Interval value is 60.
- Trap Community String: Identifies the SNMP string to use for sending traps. The default Trap Community String value is 'public.'
- Trap Destination: Identifies the IP address of the server that receives SNMP traps from the Watchdog Services. The traps are generated when thresholds for CA Network Flow Analysis component performance are violated. The Trap Destination setting has no default value.
