SMF Record Creation

The Communications Server must be set up to generate the SMF type 119 records for the following:

• Telnet events
• Connection events
• FTP events

The SMF records are intercepted by the SOLVE SSI region and are used by the product region to enable the following:

• Application name generation
• Event history reporting
• Telnet connection identification

The z/OS operating system must also be set up to enable Communications Server SMF record types to be processed.
