Monitor Sessions

Monitoring the sessions in your network lets you keep track of session starts and failures. NTS lets you monitor any session that has an end point in, or traverses, the local system. A selection list of sessions is provided, from which you can obtain information about the type and status of your sessions, as well as associated data that can be used to determine problems.

From the NTS : Primary menu, you can display selection lists of sessions ordered as follows:

List Primary Sessions

To list primary sessions

  1. Enter 2 at the command prompt on the NTS : Primary Menu.

    The NTS : Session List appears.

    Note: For information about the fields and options displayed on this panel, press F1 (Help).

List Secondary Sessions

To list secondary sessions

  1. Enter 3 at the command prompt on the NTS : Primary Menu.

    The NTS : Session List appears.

Locate a Session Partner

In the session list for a specific resource, you can reposition the list to bring a session partner into view by using the LOCATE command..

To locate a particular session partner in a session list

  1. Enter L resource_name at the command prompt. resource_name can be either a full or a partial name of the resource.

    The session list is repositioned.

Filter Session List Information

You can change the information displayed on a session list by using the filtering option. After filters have been set, they are retained for the duration of the operator’s NTS session.

You can modify the following fields:

SCOPE

Can be set to include or exclude either active or database session data.

SEQUENCE

Allows session lists to be reordered by primary name or secondary name sequence, as specified.

SESSION TYPE

Filters the session list by the following type of sessions:

CC

Includes CP to CP sessions.

LL

Includes LU to LU sessions.

MAI

Includes CA SOLVE:Access logical sessions.

SL

Includes SSCP to LU sessions.

SP

Includes SSCP to PU sessions.

SS

Includes SSCP to SSCP sessions.

SESSION USERID

(MAI sessions only) Filters the session list by user ID.

SESSION DATA

Filters the session list by session data flag presence:

A

Includes accounting data.

E

Includes error data.

R

Includes RTM data.

T

Includes trace data.

Session Start Date/Time

Specifies a high date and time, and a low date and time to restrict the session list to sessions with start times in the range specified. If the high or low date and time is blank, no high or low restriction is enforced.

Session End Date/Time

Specifies a high date and time, and a low date and time to restrict the session list to sessions with end times in the range specified. If the high or low date and time is blank, no high or low restriction is enforced.
