Cold Start a Request Using GDGs

As with any other transmission request, you can interrupt the transmission of a GDG and, if required, request a cold start be performed. A cold start implies that transmission of the data set be restarted from the beginning of the data set rather than any checkpoint that may be valid.

In such a case, the previously resolved absolute generation number is again used, and any changes to the GDG that occurred since the transmission was originally started are ignored.

If you want the current status of the GDG to apply and the relative generation number to be resolved again to its current absolute number, then you must delete the request and re-enter it.
