Extracting SQL Statement Text from the DB2 Catalog

We recommend initially setting DB2CTSQL to NO and DB2HVSQL to YES. With this configuration the DB2 Harvester extracts the SQL statement text directly from DB2 control blocks.

Business Value:

Setting DB2CTSQL to NO avoids additional overhead when extracting SQL statement text from the DB2 catalog.

Additional Considerations:

A value of YES for the parameters DB2CTSQL and DB2SPSQL defines that the statement text for SQL statements detected during a measurement is extracted from the DB2 catalog if you use the DB2 Harvester (DB2HRVST=YES).

We recommend setting DB2CTSQL and DB2SPSQL to YES in the following situations:

• When the DB2 Harvester is unable to extract the correct statement text from the DB2 control blocks.
• If you have SQL statement texts greater than 4096. The information from the control blocks may be incomplete because the DB2 Harvester extracts only 4096 bytes of statement text.
