The Server works with the Central Component to automate the control of measurements in batch. The Server collects information about the current system activity and compares this information with historical data in its database. When a job, step, or program appears to exceed its resource utilization, a measurement is initiated.
The Server runs like a subsystem of TSO, IMS, and so on, and uses Cross Memory Services (CMS) as well. That is, the Server acts as a service provider.
