Setting the Virtual Storage Limit

The BUFLIMIT parameter on the SETOPTION command lets you limit the number of 4KB pages of virtual storage that CA MIC can use for managing cross-system message traffic.

You can experience a storage shortage when, for example, an error (program loop) or unusually heavy message traffic causes the writing of many messages. The BUFLIMIT parameter restricts the amount of virtual storage CA MIM can use at these times.

We recommend that you use the default value 999, designating an unlimited amount of storage. However, you can specify a value from 2 to 999 if you think you may experience storage problems.

Important! If you specify too small a value, CA MIC may be temporarily forced to discontinue cross-system message routing. It is better to increase the virtual storage size of the CA MIC service machine, than to reduce the BUFLIMIT.
